Two single parents and three adorable kids are about to have a summer they'll never forget in this sexy, heartwarming new novel of the New York Times bestselling series.
Following the sudden death of his wife, Nathan Bell spent nearly two years burying himself in work and neglecting his biggest responsibility: his daughter. Overcome with guilt, he wants to connect with little Marley, but he doesn't know how to do it alone. And then Jenna Savage throws him a lifeline.
A single mom of twins, Jenna is more than capable of taking care of Nathan's adorable two-year-old and wants to help Nathan however she can. As the days go by and her attraction to Nathan grows, she can't help wondering what might happen if they became a family for real. And the closer everyone becomes, the more right it feels.
Falling in love forces Nathan to face his biggest fear, and when hearts — both big and little — are on the line, the only thing scarier than needing Jenna and her kids so much is losing them all.

Daniels (the Alabama Summer series) rounds out her Dirty Deeds series with this middling single-parent romance. Workaholic restaurant owner Nathan Bell has been struggling since his wife committed suicide two years ago, leaving him alone with their newborn daughter, Marley. His parents stepped in to raise Marley, but they’re done with covering for him, so he needs a contingency plan. Luckily, Jenna Savage and her adorable eight-year-old twins, Olivia and Oliver, come to his rescue. Jenna offers to watch Marley while looking after her own kids, and soon sparks are flying between Jenna and Nathan. They acknowledge their attraction, but they both have more than a few past scars keeping them from fully giving away their hearts, and they also need to consider how their kids might feel about them starting to date. Some plot twists and obstacles meant to keep the couple apart sometimes feel a little forced, and the juxtaposition of Nathan and Jenna’s sexual relationship with their business relationship is disconcerting, but the payoff is worth the wait. The children truly make this novel shine, all the way to the family-size happy ending. Agent: Kimberly Brower, Brower Literary.

A single mother helps a restaurateur move past his wife's death and become a better father to his child. Jenna Savage moved to Dogwood Beach, a coastal community in North Carolina, to be closer to her brother. Her 8-year-old twins have never known their father, and they love being near their favorite uncle. A paralegal with summers off, Jenna is looking forward to three months at home with Olivia and Oliver. But when she spies a toddler wandering around Whitecaps Restaurant unsupervised, her plans change. That toddler is Marley, daughter of Whitecaps owner Nathan Bell. Nathan's parents have been taking care of Marley ever since his wife died from suicide, but after two years, they realized they were enabling his avoidance rather than helping him grieve. Now Nathan is desperately seeking a babysitter, and Jenna just happens to be enthusiastic about the prospect of adding a third, much younger, child to her already significant load. Nathan's parents' abrupt departure--they literally left him holding screaming Marley--and Jenna's quick embrace of the idea of nannying for a stranger are so clunky that the story almost doesn't get off the ground. But appealing leads, adorable children, and a sensitive portrayal of the aftermath of suicide put it back on course. Daniels' (All We Want, 2018, etc.) portrayal of a woman who really thrives in a traditional helper role feels superficial at times, but the relationship is compelling. Despite being parents with romantic histories, neither Jenna nor Nathan has really given themselves up to love. As Nathan's father puts it, "When you move past loving someone to needing them--they become a necessity to your own survival. You no longer get to decide whether you can be without this person. You can't." Good choice for fans of small-town romances with heart.
