Ford Madox Ford drew upon his experiences in World War I to pen his epic classic Parade's End, which was originally published as four separate novels between 1924 and 1928. The story stars affluent Christopher Tietjens, a brilliant statistician serving in the British Army, and chronicles his experiences on the front lines in Belgium and France. Beyond the battlefield, Tietjens must also contend with his vindictive socialite wife, Sylvia, and Valentine Wannop, the woman who becomes his mistress.
